Anything hot and melted that bread can be dipped into is my jam, which might help explain my obsession with hot spinach artichoke dip.

Is artichoke dip healthy?

I’m gonna go with a big no on this one (unless you’re doing the Keto Diet and high fat is your thing), but a little indulgence never hurt anyone.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, that about now is the time of year where I give up on trying. I fully succumb to my sweatpants and sectional for weekends at a time and I combat shorter days by alternating staying warm under a heavy blanket and cooking comfort food, a lot. For me, comfort food usually means cheese and lots of it.

What goes into spinach artichoke dip?

Besides being absolutely delicious, we love how easy to make spinach artichoke dip is. Below we’ve listed the basic ingredients. We like to add some extras like fresh basil and loads of garlic, but they aren’t the base. Once you have the basics down, you’re guaranteed a winning dip and can play with the flavors from there.

  • Fresh spinach (we prefer this over frozen spinach, but use what you have on hand!)
  • Artichoke hearts
  • Mozzarella cheese
  • Cream cheese
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Mayonnaise

Sounds easy enough, right? Just imagine, you have some friends stop by at the last minute or you’re in need of an easy appetizer to bring to a football party. All you have to do to make this winning dish is throw all the ingredients in a bowl (or straight into the pan), mix well,  and bake for 30 minutes. That’s it!

What to serve with artichoke dip?

We prefer bread (because duh), but here are a few other yummy things that make great accompaniments to this dish:

  • Carrots
  • Potato chips
  • Tortilla chips (my other favorite)
  • Warm Pita Bread
  • Pita Chips

There really isn’t anything fancy or special about this spinach artichoke dip, except that it’s delicious, reliable, and nearly impossible to screw up. Isn’t that all you really need?

Hot Spinach Artichoke Dip

Serves 8

Ingredients

1 8 oz package of cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 cup grated parmesan, divided
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup fresh basil, minced
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 14 oz can artichoke hearts drained and chopped
2 cups raw spinach, roughly chopped
1 cup grated mozzarella cheese, divided

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. In a small mixing bowl combine all ingredients, reserving ½ of the grated cheese. Stir until combined.
  2. Spread ingredients out in an ovenproof skillet or a small baking dish. Top with remaining cheese and bake uncovered for 30 minutes until dip begins to bubble. Serve warm or at room temp with bread or chips of choice! Enjoy!
