What Is Tahini Sauce Made Of?
Tahini is a smooth paste made from ground, toasted sesame seeds. It’s pretty easy to find, but there’s quite a bit of variance in quality from brand to brand. A good quality tahini tastes deliciously nutty and buttery, and should have a smooth texture. For this simple and delicious sauce we’ll use:
Tahini
Garlic
Lemon juice
Water
Salt
How to Make Homemade Tahini Sauce
With a sharp knife, mince four garlic cloves. Feeling lazy? Throw a bunch of garlic cloves into a food processor for a quick blitz and have on hand for the entire week of cooking.
In a small bowl, whisk together the tahini, garlic, lemon juice, water, and salt.
If the sauce is too thick, add more water or lemon juice 1 tablespoon at a time.
How to Store Leftovers + Tips
Store refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 1 month.
Freeze tahini sauce for up to three months.
What do you use tahini sauce for? One of our favorite, easy side dishes (or snacks) is simply roasted veggies served with a bowl of tahini sauce for dipping. You can use it as a salad dressing (massage it into raw kale, and surprise! You made kale salad!).
