We’d Like to Make a Toast
Ever find yourself in a major food rut? You know the feeling: despite a semi-stocked fridge, you still can’t figure out what to eat. Meet the easiest—and most delicious—solution: toast! For breakfast, lunch or dinner! We’re talking toast slathered in a protein-packed layer of almond butter, thick slices of perfectly ripe banana, a generous sprinkle of toasted coconut, a drizzle of honey, and finished with a pinch of flakey salt. In under 10 minutes, you’ve got a nutrient-rich—and kid-approved—meal the whole family will love. For more easy anytime treats, check out our favorite banana bread recipe.
Toast for Dinner—It’s Really Good (And Easy)
Though the ingredients in our nut butter toast likely make you think of it as a breakfast dish, toast for dinner is actually divine! Here are just a few reasons why we love serving fancy toast for dinner:
- It’s easy. In under 10 minutes you’ve got a complete, healthy meal to put on the table for your family. Just because it’s simple doesn’t mean it’s missing anything!
- It’s a great way to pack a lot of nutrients into one spot. Toast is fun to eat especially when it's full of almonds, bananas and coconut!
- Turn it into an all-hands-on-deck family activity. When kids become active participants in making their food they’re way more likely to eat it. To turn toast into an interactive mealtime activity, simply set everything unassembled on the table and let the kids decide which toppings they want and the order in which they’ll go on their toast.
Ingredients to Make Our Banana and Almond Butter Toast
Just a few simple ingredients and you’re well on your way to toast-topping perfection:
- Tasty bread. We like the way a good multi-grain slice adds an earthy balance to the bananas and honey here, but it’d also be divine on sourdough.
- Almond butter. If you don’t love almond butter, feel free to swap in another nut butter of your choosing, like cashew butter or even classic peanut butter.
- Banana. We like the look and texture of banana slices on top of our almond butter toast, but you could also mash and spread.
- Honey. Drizzle as little or as much as you’d like.
- Flaked coconut. Coconut adds both healthy fats and flavor to this nut butter toast.
- Maldon sea salt. There’s just something about a sprinkling of Maldon sea salt flakes that seems to add the perfect finishing flavor to anything it touches.
Other Toast Toppings We Love

- Whipped butter + Prosciutto + Swiss cheese + arugula
- Greek yogurt + fresh blueberries + cinnamon + honey
- White bean hummus + cucumbers + roasted red pepper + feta crumbles
