The Best Strawberry Margaritas, Anyone?
Strawberry margaritas are a must-order treat when we go out for burritos. But, why reserve them only for enjoying in Mexican restaurants when they’re so easy to make at home? We love a Classic Margarita and Spicy Margaritas on the rocks, but we want our strawberry margaritas blended! Tequila, lime juice and frozen strawberries are a match made in frozen cocktail heaven. Whip up some Chips and Guacamole, maybe even some Queso, Carnitas Tacos, and Taquitos and call it a party.
Frozen Strawberry Margarita Ingredients
Frozen strawberries
Blanco tequila
Fresh lime juice
Orange liqueur, such as Cointreau or Grand Marnier
Sugar (to make simple syrup)
Salt for the rim (if you like a salted rim)
How To Make Strawberry Margaritas
Make simple syrup. Like it sounds, simple syrup is simple! It’s just equal parts sugar and water, stirred together until they’re dissolved. We usually stir them together in a big Pyrex cup.
Blend together the syrup, frozen strawberries, tequila, lime juice, and orange liquor in a high-speed blender.
Salt the glasses. Rub the rims of four margarita glasses with a lime wedge and dip the glass in salt. (If you’re not into salted rims, go ahead and skip this step!)
Pour the strawberry margarita into the glasses.
Garnish with lime. Serve immediately.
Tips For The Best Strawberry Margaritas
Start with great tequila. Or at least good tequila. We’re calling for blanco tequila, which simply means tequila that’s not (very) aged. Espolòn Tequila Blanco is a go-to brand for us — it’s affordable and high-quality. But any blanco tequila that you like will work fine.
Make a strawberry margarita mocktail! Yes, you can easily make this a mocktail! Just leave out the tequila, and go a little lighter on the simple syrup.
Don’t sub fresh strawberries! For once, we don’t want you to use fresh strawberries. We don’t add any ice to our strawberry margarita recipe, so the “ice” is just the frozen strawberries. Frozen is key!
