The Best Broiled Salmon Recipe
An easy broiled salmon that goes well with literally everything. We recommend a big old salad, like our Italian Salad or Chickpea Salad. Want to add something more filling? Cook up some Rice, Couscous, or Rosemary Roasted Potatoes. Veggies would of course be great (and super healthy), like our Roasted Cauliflower or Broccolini. The possibilities are endless!!
What is Broiling?
Broiling is kind of like grilling, but inside your house! Broiling in the oven is equivalent to cooking with 500-550℉, and adds more texture (that char!) than baking because of the high heat. Is baking or broiling better for salmon? There’s no *best* method for preparing salmon, but we like broiling for the expediency, and the nice crispiness it adds. Our Baked Salmon recipe is also fast and easy, with slightly different results. Broiling is our favorite method for melting cheese in dishes like our Shrimp Melt with Capers and Old Bay Seasoning and Meatball Sub Sandwich.

How to Make Broiled Salmon
Start the broiler. Turn the oven on broil with a rack in the top position.
Line a rimmed sheet pan with parchment paper. Place the salmon on the prepared sheet, skin side down.
Make the sauce. In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, brown sugar, salt, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and mustard. Brush the sauce all over the salmon.
Broil the salmon. Cook the salmon until it is crispy and flakes easily with a fork, about 10 minutes.
Sprinkle and serve. Sprinkle with parsley and serve.
How to Store Oven Broiled Salmon + Tips
Salmon is a freezer’s best friend. We keep uncooked salmon filets in the freezer to have on hand for easy dinners, and cooked salmon is just as easy to have on hand in the freezer. This broiled salmon will keep in the freezer for up to three months.
Make ahead for meal prep! Salmon is great for 2-3 days in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Add to your favorite salad, scramble or ricebowl! Leftover broiled salmon can also be substituted for the trout in our Garlicky Beans with Lemon, Dill and Trout recipe.
Everyone’s broil feature operates differently so keep a close eye. If it gets a little charred on the edges that's ok! How long to broil salmon: Oven temperatures vary and the broiler is a super hot tool, but most salmon will be cooked around the ten minute mark.
Can I use this method on other fish? You bet! Just check for doneness. As long as the filet is about the same thickness as salmon, cook time should remain the same.
