Baked ravioli is the kind of food we could cook and eat every single night. We use every short cut — store bought ravioli, jarred sauce, no boiling! — to make an easy ravioli bake that’s ready so fast and tastes so cheesy and comforting. Loaded with sausage and a lots of cream-kissed tomato sauce, it’s easy to make, quick, and kid-friendly — in other words, heaven in a baking dish. Since it’s made with cheese ravioli, it’s even heartier than our Baked Ziti or Baked Penne. It’s more filling, like our cheesy Stuffed Shells, or rib-sticking Baked Gnocchi. Easy Baked Ravioli Ingredients
Cheese ravioli: The kind you’d find in the refrigerated section of the grocery store. This recipe might work with frozen ravioli, but we have only tested it with the fresh, refrigerated kind so that’s what we suggest.
Marinara sauce: this can be homemade marinara if you’ve got it, or just use a jarred sauce that you like — either is fine. Remember, the goal of this recipe is easy!
Canned Tomatoes: Just to make the sauce extra saucy (the key to getting the ravioli to cook as they bake is having plenty of sauce), we add canned tomatoes in addition to the marinara.
Cream: Just a splash, to make the sauce so luxurious and a little extra delicious.
Sausage: Ground Italian sausage is one of our favorite short-cut ingredients, because it’s full of herbs and spices already so you get tons of flavor out of a single ingredient.
Seasoning: Italian seasoning (the dry herb mix) and lots of fresh garlic and onions. Fresh parsley is really nice to finish the dish, but if fresh herbs stress you out, it’s OK to skip it.
Mozzarella cheese: Pre shredded mozzarella doesn’t melt as well as the brick you shred yourself, but you do you. Again, this recipe is about ease!
How To Make Baked Ravioli
Make an easy, creamy meat sauce: In your favorite pot, cook the sausage, onion, and garlic. Pour in the the marinara, tomatoes, seasoning and cream.
Add the ravioli: Stir in the ravioli. (No need to boil it first)
Pour the sauce and ravioli into a baking dish.
Top with mozzarella cheese, cover and bake for 30 minutes.
Finish it under the broiler so that the cheese gets bubbly and a little browned.
Serve! We like to just set out the whole pan, and let people help themselves!
How To Make Ahead + Store Baked Ravioli
If you have any leftovers, our baked ravioli recipe keeps beautifully in the fridge. You could even make it ahead of time! Prep the baked ravioli all the way to the point where you cover it with foil, and instead of putting it in the oven, pop it in the fridge. In the next day or two (when you’re ready to eat it) pop it in the oven and bake it. Easy peasy!
