Turkey Burgers

Ingredients
Turkey Patties
- 2 pounds 93% lean ground turkey
- ½ small yellow onion, grated
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 large egg
- ¼ cup plain breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon mustard powder
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons sea salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, (some people also do mayo)
For Serving
- 6 hamburger buns, toasted
- ½ cup good quality mayonnaise, (we like Duke’s or Helman’s)
- ¼ cup ketchup, (optional)
- 6 romaine lettuce leaves
- ½ red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cup dill pickles, sliced (optional)

Method
- In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, grated onion, garlic powder, egg, breadcrumbs, mustard powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper until fully combined. Using your hands, form the mixture into 6 patties, slightly larger than the buns.
- Heat the olive oil in a large cast iron skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for 4 to 5 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F on an instant-read meat thermometer. Do not press patties.
- Spread the cut side of the buns with the mayonnaise and ketchup (if using). Layer with lettuce, turkey patties, onion, and pickles (if using). Serve immediately.
Notes
Grill method:
Grease the grates with the olive oil. Preheat the grill on medium high. Place the patties on the grill and cook for 4 to 5 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F on an instant-read meat thermometer.
