Tuna Salad

Ingredients

  • 2 (5-ounce) cans tuna, packed in water or oil, drained
  • 1 small shallot, finely chopped (about 2 tablespoons)
  • 1 celery rib, minced (about ⅓ cup)
  • 2 teaspoons relish, sweet or dill
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise, plus more to taste
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon or Stone ground mustard
  • 2 teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice (from lemon) or red wine vinegar
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder or Old Bay Seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon granulated sugar or honey (optional)
  • 8 slices bread of choice (optional)
  • 4 large lettuce leaves (optional)
