Homemade Teriyaki Sauce

Glossy and rich Homemade teriyaki sauce dripping smoothly from a spoon
  • Serves:  6
  • Prep Time:  5 min
  • Cook Time:  7 min

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 ¼ cups cold water
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup soy sauce or tamari
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

Method

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the cornstarch with the water. Whisk in the brown sugar, soy sauce, honey, ginger, and garlic powder.
  2. Add the sauce to a small sauce pan and bring the sauce to a simmer over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat to medium and cook until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened enough to coat the back of a spoon, about 5 minutes. The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools.
