Teriyaki Sauce

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup low-sodium soy sauce or tamari
  • ⅓ cup honey
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chili paste, such as sambal oelek
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice (from 1 lime)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Method

  1. In a small saucepan, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, garlic, ginger, chili paste and lime juice. Bring the sauce to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer, stirring frequently, about 5 minutes.

  2. In a small bowl, stir the cornstarch into ¼ cup water. Stir in the cornstarch mixture and simmer until thickened, about 2 minutes more.

Note: Makes 1 ¼ cup
