Red Wine Sangria

homemade sangria recipe in cups with apples and oranges
  • Serves:  6
  • Prep Time:  15 min
  • Cook Time:  0 min

Ingredients

  • 1 (750 mL) bottle red wine, (we like Grenache or Pinot Noir)
  • ½ cup brandy
  • ½ cup triple sec
  • ¾ cup fresh orange juice, (from 2 large oranges) plus 1 orange, peeled and sliced
  • 2 -4 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • ½ green apple, cored and cut into bite-sized pieces
  • ½ cup water, (optional)

Method

  1. In a large pitcher, combine the wine, brandy, triple sec, orange juice, and brown sugar to taste. Stir in the cinnamon stick, orange slices, and apple pieces.

  2. Refrigerate until ready to serve, preferably 2-4 hours.

  3. Stir and taste before serving. If too sweet or strong in flavor, add the ½ cup water. Alternatively serve the sangria over ice, which will help it achieve the perfect strength and sweetness.
