Iced Tea Recipe

a glass of homemade iced tea with a metal straw sweetened with sugar and garnished with a lemon wedge
  • Serves:  6
  • Prep Time:  5 min
  • Cook Time:  5 min

Ingredients

  • 8 bags black tea, such as Lipton
  • ΒΌ cup sugar, plus more to taste (optional)
  • 1 lemon, sliced (optional)

Method

  1. In a large pot over, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over high heat. Remove the pot from the heat and add the tea bags. Steep the tea for 4 minutes.
  2. Remove the tea bags and discard. If you prefer sweet tea, add the sugar or your preferred sweetener of choice to the tea and stir until dissolved, about 5 minutes. Transfer to a pitcher and stir in 4 cups of water. Taste and add more sugar if desired. Chill until ready to serve, about 1 hour.
  3. Serve over ice with a lemon wedge if using. Store leftovers refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

Notes

Just like with hot tea, if you prefer a stronger tea we recommend using more tea bags versus steeping it for longer than 4 minutes. The longer tea steeps, the more bitter the tea will be. If you prefer a weaker tea, we recommend adding 1 additional cup of water to the iced tea.
