Grilled BBQ Chicken

- Serves: 6
- Prep Time: 5 min
- Cook Time: 50 min
Ingredients
- 3 pounds bone-in, skin-on chicken wings, thighs or legs, or boneless thighs, and/or breasts
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1 ½ cups BBQ Sauce, homemade or store-bought
Method
- Heat one side of the grill on high (400° F).
- Season the chicken all over with salt. Place the chicken, skin side down, on the side of the grill with direct heat and cook until charred all over, about 3-4 minutes each side. Brush the chicken evenly, all over with half of the BBQ sauce and transfer to the other side of the grill, to finish cooking over indirect heat.
- Cover the grill and cook the chicken for 15-20 minutes. Turn the chicken again, brushing evenly with the remaining BBQ sauce. Cover the grill and cook until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F on an instant read thermometer, about 15-30 minutes more (see Note).
Notes
Wings, legs and boneless chicken thighs will be done after about 30-40 minutes (15-20 minutes per side). Bone in, skin on thighs and breasts (depending on size) will be done after about 40-50 minutes (20-25 minutes per side).
