Grilled BBQ Chicken
- Serves: 6
- Prep Time: 5 min
- Cook Time: 1 hr 50 min
Ingredients
- 3 pounds bone-in, skin-on chicken wings, legs, thighs, and/or breasts
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1½ cups BBQ Sauce, homemade or store-bought
Method
Heat one side of the grill on high (400° F).
Season the chicken all over with the salt. Place the chicken, skin side down, on the side of the grill with direct heat and cook for 10 minutes. Turn and brush the chicken evenly with half of the BBQ sauce and transfer to the other side of the grill. Cover the grill and cook the chicken over indirect heat until tender, about 30 minutes. Turn the chicken again, brushing evenly with the remaining BBQ sauce, and cook until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F on an instant read thermometer, about 30 minutes more (see Note).
Note: Wings and legs will be done after about 70 minutes (35 minutes per side). Thighs will be done after about 85 minutes (about 42 minutes per side). The breasts will be done after about 100 minutes (50 minutes per side).
