Garlic Bread

cheesy garlic bread cut into slices
  • Serves:  8
  • Prep Time:  10 min
  • Cook Time:  5 min

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup (1½ sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 tablespoons minced fresh flat-leaf parsley, plus more for garnish
  • 5 garlic cloves, minced
  • ¾ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt (see Note)
  • ¾ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 (1-pound) loaf rustic bread, French or ciabatta

Method

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the butter, parsley, garlic, garlic powder, salt and half of the parmesan cheese.

  2. Slice the loaf of bread in half lengthwise, being careful to keep the thickness the same on both sides.

  3. Turn the oven to broil with a rack in the center position.

  4. Using a knife or spatula, spread half of the garlic butter mixture onto one half of the loaf. Repeat with remaining butter on the second half. Set the bread buttered side up on a rimmed sheet pan and sprinkle with the remaining Parmesan cheese.

  5. Broil until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.

  6. Remove from the oven and garnish with parsley. Serve immediately.

Note: If using salted butter, reduce added salt to ¼ teaspoon.
