Six Ingredient Super Green Smoothie
How is it possible that the holidays have already come and gone? It was a full month of nonstop action in our home, in the best possible way. We hope you all got some much needed rest in the company of your loved ones and we especially hope your holidays included some wonderful food. I know that Natalie and I both have spent the last few weeks really indulging in rich food, and I'm positive we aren't the only ones. Now that the new year is upon us we are ready to switch gears and clean up our act, again, I'm sure many of you are right there with us. I have more of a sweet tooth than Natalie, so I know it will be especially hard for me. Finding foods and drinks that scratch that itch are key to me being successful in this clean eating venture.
It's fresh, it's healthy, it's bright and full of flavor, and best of all it is the deliciously refreshing antithesis of all that rich holiday food.
The last few months I have said yes entirely too much. Yes to sweets, yes to snacks of any kind, yes to all kinds of party food, and pretty much yes to whatever was easiest. I can't say that I regret it all. I'm a firm believer in enjoying your food in the moment and not beating yourself up over mistakes or slip-ups. But I’m ready to move on; to stop indulging in every whim and craving and to stop taking the easy way out. My body deserves it. My family deserves it. And I'm ready and excited for the culinary challenge that this change is sure to present. Natalie and I both have high hopes that this will be a year of cleaner eating for our families and ourselves.
And so it is that the first post of 2016 on The Modern Proper is this: a tropical green smoothie with added protein and a matcha green tea kick. It's fresh, it's healthy, it's bright and full of flavor, and best of all it is the deliciously refreshing antithesis of all that rich holiday food. Be on the lookout for more recipes of this kind on TMP as the new year unfolds, along with plenty of classic dishes that we know you are all going to love. Some of our favorite dinners are in the blog post line-up and we hope they become some of your go-to meals as well. So, cheers to the new year, we hope it’s a happy (and healthy) one indeed.
