There are few things better than a rich and creamy milkshake, am I right? But have you ever made one at home? One pint sized milkshake takes like a quarter gallon of ice cream. I once made the mistake of stopping to do the math on those calories and was so bummed, the milkshake *almost* lost its appeal. Happily, I’ve recently discovered Halo Top ice cream and the lower calorie count and increased protein make me feel like milkshakes can now be a sensible treat for me to indulge in often.

...so thick and rich I could stand a spoon up in it.

Oatmeal Cookie and Bing Cherry Milkshake

Recently I had the really hard task of sampling many of Halo Top’s flavors recently (aka best job ever) and I was so impressed with the texture and quality of all of them, but my favorites had to be the mint chip, chocolate mocha chip, red velvet, and the luscious oatmeal cookie. Inspired by my love of milkshakes, the gift of a reduced-guilt ice cream, and the beautiful crop of cherries now taking over the produce department of my local market, I concocted this stunning bing cherry and oatmeal cookie milkshake.

The results were over the top delicious. Lots of fresh cherries, some dried cherries for a bit of chewy goodness, cocoa nibs, a splash of milk, and a pint of the delightful oatmeal cookie Halo Top blended for just a few seconds and I was left with a milkshake so thick and rich I could stand a spoon up in it (because no self-respecting milkshake should be thin enough to pass through a straw). I just love it when healthier doesn’t mean bland and disappointing. You better believe I consumed the entire thing and didn’t feel the least bit bad about it and I encourage you to indulge yourself and do the same. Your favorite flavor of Halo Top + whatever delicious toppings you have + a splash of milk + some blender time = instant summer happiness without the regret, guaranteed.
